<Welcome To My Portfolio/>

About Me

I'm an aspiring Front End Developer, even though I've enjoyed programming since high school. After nine years as a recruiter, I'm taking the plunge back into coding. The web has evolved immensly since I stumbled into code back in the days of Geocities. I relish the challenge of expanding my repertoire, striving to be the best at development.

I'm seeking a home where I can put my new found skills to the test!

Outside of development, I have a strong interest in blockchain and cryptocurrency. For fun, I like to exercise the other half of my brain. I'm a long time analog gamer (board games and RPGs). I'm a firm believer you can never have enough dice.

<Skills & Proficiencies/>

Creating websites is as much a function of art as it is a function of engineering. I'm always learning more. Below are the coding skills I possess.

No two projects are the same. Every one brings forth different creative blueprints. Click on the pictures to view my completed projects.

Doctorate Portfolio Website

My brother received his doctoral degree in the spring of 2020. The portfolio website he created years ago using Wordpress and a free theme needed to be updated. He approached me for some suggestions, wanting to keep the site minimalistic to parallel his own personal artistic style. I recommended a high-contrast black and white color scheme.

Changes Made:
  • Converted site to one page from multiple pages
  • Responsive and mobile-friendly, can be accessed from any device around the world
  • Transferred host and domain name registrar to Amazon Web Services, keeping the cost down
Tech Used:
  • HTML 5 & CSS 3
  • Bootstrap 4.4
  • JavaScript & JQuery
  • Github
  • AWS S3 & Route 53

Crypto Informed

Cryptocurrency and blockchain technology have been an interest of mine for the past few years. A vast array of news and information on this subject is spread across the internet. To make finding this information easier, I created a website that would collect articles from various sources and compiled them together.

  • Developed simple but responsive HTML template
  • Converted template to a Wordpress theme
  • Added various plugins for functionality and news aggregation ability
  • Hosted on an Amazon Web Service Lightsail instance for reliability and future scalability
Tech Used:
  • HTML 5 & CSS 3
  • Bootstrap 4.5
  • PHP
  • Wordpress
  • Google Analytics & AdSense
  • AWS Lightsail & Route 53

Chingu Project

Chingu is an eight week code bootcamp. I joined a team of two other developers to learn how to not only build a project and work with a development team. All work was done remotely using agile methodology. We built a task reminder app using ReactJS. Users can add tasks to be completed during the day. A description of associated steps can be added to the task with the option to set a timer for each task.

Tech Used:
  • HTML 5 & CSS 3
  • JavaScript
  • ReactJS
  • React Bootstrap 1.01
  • Github
